Outlook 2007 blocks embedded images on incoming mail

B

Brian

The images on the incoming mails received by Outlook 2007 were all black out.

I was told that it is a default setting by MS Outlook 2007 and there is no
way to display any embedded images in any email received.

Can someone tell me if there is any solution at all?.

Thanks!

Brian

If Outlook is blocking an image then you'll see an Information bar above the
message notifying Outlook is doing so. Click on the bar to show the
pictures.

If the bar is not there, Outlook is not blocking it and your issue is being
caused by something else.

The embedded image did appear on the webmail of my IP Server but on Outlook
2007, the entire image was just black out.

Some web discussion group said this is because Microsoft has removed the
image rendering from Outlook 2007 but there any way to make this image
rendering possible.

No, that is not true.
Do you get the Information bar?
If you can't describe it, post a screenshot of your issue somewhere.

I don't see the bar or the red cross.

The image simply black out on Outlook 2007. I can see the image on the
webmail via Firefox.

I don't know why are you so sure that it is not true. Are you from
Microsoft. I have gone thru at least 20 postings on the web relating to this
problem and they all came up with the same answer that Microsoft has removed
some html image rendering capabilities from Outlook 2007 for security reason.
I am simply looking for a way to unlock this.

100% sure. There are some HTML rendering capabilities removed indeed, but
they have nothing to do with displaying inline pictures.
Can you post a screenshot of your issue?

I was following this discussion and did not see the post of an example. I'm
having the same problem and can can't understand why I should have to pay for
a program that enables me to see pictures that come embedded in emails. I
would just like my Outlook to work properly. I'll try to copy and paste an
example from my Inbox. I don't see images just a plain white box with black
borders.

I'm unable to copy and paste the shot. I'm going to email it to Brian at

Thanks- Kathy

I am having the same issues. All of the setting in Outlook 07 are set to
allow these images to be downloaded, but I still do not get to view some
messages as well as not having the option at the top of the reading pane to
allow me to download them. This is realy getting old. Why does it display
some emails as HTML with pics and headers, but not others when I disabled the
options all together? Seems like a typical Microsoft issue. I have missed
important things in emails do to this issue and have had it. I think i am
going back to an older version of office if this is not fixed among other
things.

I'm having the same issue. I gather from the posts in this string that there
is no solution to this problem but to use another program!! Microsoft needs
to get things figures out--or my next computer is a Mac.

Have you "MANUALLY" deleted your temporary internet folders lately?
You may also want to be sure to periodically delete your temporary internet
files "MANLUALLY" as doing this through explorer/tools/Internet Options/
Delete Browsing History/ doesn't work!!!!!!!!!

click on link below to find your operating system:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/securetemp.htm AND
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/redx.asp

When temporary internet folder gets "full" you may have problems opening
email attachments or embedded images won't display. If you open image
attachments in Windows Photo or Image viewer and click next, you may see old
images you thought you deleted. Delete the files in the folder to fix.

When you open attachments on email directly from Outlook, a copy is written
to a temporary folder on your hard drive. This is so that the virus scanner
can check it before it is opened. The folder Outlook uses is under the temp
internet folders. This offers more security as only your user account and the
computer administrator account can view the files under this folder. The only
way to avoid "losing" attachments in this well hidden folder is to save them
to your hard drive, before opening. Few people do this (myself included).

Do you see just empty white boxes where the images were supposed to be? If
you do, try this solution. It is the Show Picture Placeholders option.
The description for it says "Display an empty box in place of each graphic
in the document to improve scrolling performance"

To disable this option, do the following:

Create a New email, click the Office Button in the top left, choose the
Editor Options button at the bottom right, select Advanced, scroll down to
the "Display email content" section and make sure there is no tick next to
the "Show Picture Placeholders" option.

Hope one of these solutions works for you!

FOUND MY SOLUTION. In an e-mail, go to Editing Choices, Advanced, View
e-mail. Remove the check from "View picture placeholders."

this fix works great, but only if I open the e-mails, I can still only see
empty picture boxes in the preview plane

Any ideas?
