OUTLOOK 2007 beta 2 -CANNOT SEND EMAIL

Curious as to what I should do to allow my email to be sent. This is the
error message I get in the Ouitlook Send/Receice Progress window--

" None of the authentication methods suported by this client are supported
by your server."

I just downloaded OL 2007 with contact manager two days ago. But have not
been able to install the contact manager portion. Had Outlook 2000 prior to
the download of 2007 and had no problems sending and receiving mail.

My ISP has a POP3 server.

I can receive mail, and create/draft an email, but I cannot send any mail.

Please help.

When you use the "test account settings" do you get any errors? If yes, what
is the exact text?

I am assuming you saw all the posts below, but i had the same problem you
mention. Make sure you go uncheck the box that requires smtp authorization
and you should be all set....

Milly thanks for your help and to give you an answer this is the error I
recevied:

'Send test e-mail message: None of the authentication methods supported by
this client are supported by your server.'

But Jimtsch, your answer solved my problem. The SMTP box was checked. Once
I unchecked it, all emails were sent.

Thanks so much for your help.

thx Jimtsch,

this tip solved my SMTP authentication problem. Bit silly though, because I
use different ISPs for receive and send with different login details hence
would expect to have to check the box.

Anyway it works now
