Outlook 2007 backup problems.

Taking a backup of the outlook mailbox. Currently done by choosing:

File -> Import and export -> export to a file -> .pst -> mailbox (and
include sub-folders checked) -> allow duplicates

This leaves me with a .pst of approx 700mb - which looks ok, but the mailbox
size of the original is 1.4gb .. i've done a restore to another machine and
it's missing about 23000 emails.

any pointers??
cheers tq.

Is this for an Exchange account? Backups are best done on the server.

Rarely is it a good idea to use export/import, especially for a backup.
Instead, create a PST with File>new>Outlook Data File. Then copy the
contents of the mailbox to the PST. Close the PST with right-click>Close.
Close Outlook and copy the PST to your backup medium. All done.
