It's a free account with Yahoo, though I pay for SBC Yahoo DSL service. I
use Outlook as my primary email, however. I only go to the Yahoo mail
from
remote computers.
A free Yahoo Mail account does not include access to Yahoo's POP3 and SMTP
servers, so either:
- You are using the webmail interface to Yahoo Mail.
- Or, you are using YahooPOPs as a local POP3-to-HTTP proxy to get your POP3
client (Outlook) to connect to Yahoo Mail (HTTP account).
Since in another post you said that you finally got the message to send then
you are not using the free account to send your outbound mails. Instead you
are using your ISP's SMTP server. However, the above message you showed was
for a POP3 mail server, not for an SMTP server. So either the error message
you showed was for an error while retrieving new e-mails and not for sending
them, or you have the Yahoo account misconfigured in Outlook to specify
Yahoo's POP3 server as the SMTP server.
If you are using Yahoo for DSL, why aren't you using the included mail
account (which would give you POP3 and SMTP access)? You say that you are
using a freebie Yahoo mail account and yet you are connecting to
pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com (which is for incoming mails, not outbound mails),
and that server is for paid accounts. The error message you show (for
receiving mails) does not match the error you describe (sending mails).
