Outlook 2003 with XP Pro SP2 - problem with backround in some emai

On one of our laptops some emails come in with a light blue-gray background.
Both systems use MS Word 2003 as the editor. There seems to be no reason for
this as on another one the same emails come in with a blank background. I
have deleted and recreated the email.dot template, run office repair and
found that with an individual email I can change the background to white, but
ther seems to be no where to make a global change.

Rename email.dot to .old.
