Outlook 2003 w/BCM crashing - error not found in KB...

Hello and thank you in advance for your help. I've been reading the posts and
have found the following: info contradictory to MS website and no mention of
my error message

I'm hoping someone will have patience to help potentially millions of users,
other than just me. This is not the first time a MS accounting program
crashed my Outlook 2003 w/BCM (tried loading SMLBIZ Acctg 2007 Pro, when
originally released, too.)

The following quote was taken directly from FAQ at following link:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/accountingexpress/HA102461991033.aspx

"Yes, office accounting express works with MS Office XP and MS Office 2003"

Mentioned only because a number of other members in postings scoff at those
that mention there should be compatibility or at least the ability for
Outlook 2003 w/BCM and Acctg. Exp. 2008 to peacefully co-exist on the same
system.

That being said, I've read many KB articles and thus have done the following
to make both work: stopped services (necessary inorder to rename files but
not widely advertised in KB articles - FYI), renamed all appropriate files
and edited registry properly, reinstalled BCM 2003 and Accounting Express
2008.

Outlook works after uninstallation of BCM but no longer works with BCM with
or without accounting 2008 installed. Accounting 2008 will not stay open at
all whether I'm starting a new company or trying to open existing...

No error message in accounting, says - communicated to MS - that's it.

Error message in Outlook 2003 w/BCM: Windows can not find file:
http://oca.microsoft.com/resredir.a...S=5.1.2600.2.00010100.20&DWVer=12.0.6010.5000

Please help me - Microsoft is pushing me back into the arms of Intuit,
albeit kicking and screaming but nonetheless, I simply can't make the 2
programs work.

I need my Outlook 2003 w/BCM to open and I'd like to use Accounting Express
2008. I'd like to make sure I'll like Accounting Pro - was never able to try
the 2007 version, it crashed my 2003 OL w/BCM, too.

What steps do you recommend taking in order to get BCM working again and
hopefully Accounting Express 2008, too?

Please be specific as I've mentioned, I'm certain you'll be helping alot of
others, too... Make sure to mention whether i should stop/restart services,
and when, which to install first and how and where, etc.

Thank you so very much for your time, patience and any and all advice on
this topic.

Warmest regards,

Teri

The Microsoft Office Accounting newsgroup is the place for issues with
MOA.

Regarding BCM not working any longer after re-installing it, if you
create a new Mail profile, does the BCM first use wizard pop up when
you open Outlook with that new profile?

If not, then the BCM Add-in may be disabled.
In the Windows Registry check:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
\Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddin.Connect.3
The value of LoadBehavior should be 3 for Outlook to load it.

Hi Luther, thanks for response. Been trying to post response for few days,
finally able to post...

I've been doing some 'fine print' reading on MOA 2008 - I'm sorry, very
sorry for the previous rant - MOA not compatible with the BCM portion of
2003. I've gone back to a trial version of accounting 2006 and I'm trying to
make that work with BCM 2003 (will purchase full version if I can run them
both on same computer) I've read further in the compatibility, etc. from MS,
they were designed to work together so all should be fine.

Now for my issue. I checked on the settings you recommended I look at in
your previous post and I found the following to be true: Load behavior was
indeed (3) but, I have a 'connect' extention of .1 and you indicated it
should be 3. My entry is as follows
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/OFFICE/OUTLOOK/ADDINS/Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddIn.Connect.1

Is that the issue? if so, how do i change it so that BCM runs with out fail
when i open OL 2003? That is truly all i want is for BCM to stop crashing
and be functional when I open my OL 2003 - Will you please continue to assist
me until my BCM is working again? What shall I try next? Thanks for your
help & patience...
