Outlook 2003 Unread mail folder missing...

Changed a view where i lost my "unread messages" folder
and can not figure out how to restore.

Did you click on the mail icon at the bottom of the navigation bar or did
you click on the folder icon? Try the mail icon (open envelope).

Yes, i did try the mail icon, but to no avail .

Can you re-add it to your favorites? Right click on a favorite folder and
select "new favorite folder."

I have had the same problem. I had to reinstall outlook 2003 and lost my unread folder and can not get it back.(I love this feature)

Unread Email Default Missing in Outlook

I had the same issue, all of the sudden the default unread email featured disappeared. I have not tried to re-install outlook, that should work. However in the meantime, I've found a nice little work-around. On the VIEW menu, go to ARRANGE BY, then CURRENT VIEW, and then click on CUSTOMIZE CURRENT VIEW. Next click on SORT, and choose UNREAD as the first option and RECEIVED as the second option. This will make your inbox display the most 'current' unread emails. If you manage your inbox with folders then once you have read addressed an email, put the email in the folder you want (or delete if no longer needed) and this will shorten the list of emails in the inbox. Using the folders will help if you have one or two older unread emails. Another tip (though it was not as useful for me) is to create a new Unread folder and make it a favorite. To do that, right click on Inbox and go to NEW FOLDER. Then type the name of your new folder. Next you can right click on your new folder and click on ADD TO FAVORITE FOLDERS. Your new folder will then appear in the section where your old default unread email option was. Then if you right click one more time on your new folder and go to the GENERAL tab at the top, you can select if you want the folder to display the number of unread emails in that folder. You can also select an option to show the total number of items in that folder. (This also works good for read emails that still need some attention) Hope this work around can help if you run out of other options. It's still not as good as the default unread email option provided by Outlook but in my opinion, it's better than nothing. Good Luck!
