outlook 2003 to 2007 Inbox conversion

I have tried to upgrade from Office 2003 to 2007 and I get the following
message:

The message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists restart Outlook.

Then:

Cannot display hinformation. There is either a probelm connecting tot he
Server or an error occurred. Try restarting Microsoft Office Outlook again.

I have of course restarted Outlook mamny times adn I ahve rebooted the
machine too.

I can read all of the sub-folder under "Inbox" and I have tried to Export
the Inbox to anotehr .pst file - but this operation generates a message
sayingt aht some of the data was "locked".

Any ideas?

You get this error when doing what?
It is recommended that you recreate your mail profile after changing your
version of Outlook;
