Outlook 2003 Startup Issue

S

Simon Gronow

Hi Guys,

I have a system running Outlook 2003 which fails to start. It Starts then
shutdowns down.

On Startup I get an error message of Outlook failed to start correctly last
time. Starting Outlook in safe modem will help you correct or isolated a
startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some
functionality may be disabled in this mode.

Do you want to start Outlook in Safe mode?

Either option allows Outlook to start then it just shuts down.

I have

- Created a new Outlook Profile
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Office
- Run scan pst on the pst file
- Run Office Updates

Anyone?

Hi Simon,

I have a few users who have the same problem - did you get any feedback on
this?

Our problems started after this MS Tuesday update (12FEB07) and the event
look like this:

---
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Office 11
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 2/15/2007
Time: 9:53:31 AM
User: N/A
Computer: <name>
Description:
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8118.0, stamp 456628bf,
faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, stamp 44ab9a84, debug?
0, fault address 0x00012a5b.

---

Safe Mode, Re-build or wathever you also tried does not work.

I am a bit surprise after un-successfully searching online for people in the
same boat, so I can only asume is is a combination problem probably
consisting of IE7 (as only users with IE7 has the problem), Outlook 2003 SP2
and maybe our CRM software SalesLogix 6.2 SP4.

Any suggestions?

All the best,
Jeppe

Hi Jean,

In my latest effort I made a new Outlook profile, which did not use Cached
Exchange and when that profile crashed I was able to disable the Saleslogix
(SLXAB32.DLL) add-in - now Outlook works... but only with that new profile.

Try it and see if it works for you.

Jeppe

Jean,

Our SLX version is 6.2.4 - SP5 should provide Office 2007 and IE 7
compatibility - in the meantime a commulative SP6 has come out to deal with
the 2007 timezone issue (MS KB928388).

I am currently downloading SP6 and hope this will take care of the problem -
will let you know.
