Outlook 2003 Rules - process the rule before/after Junk Email Filt

It would be nice to have a new option when creating rules in Outlook 2003,
whereby you could specify if the rule should run before or after the Junk
Email filter.

Start Processing Incoming Email:
rule 1
rule 2
check for junk email
rule 3
rule 4
End Processing Incoming Email

I agree totally. I just downloaded the trial of Office 2003 and I like it
all except for the fact that my rules do not work on emails that are sent to
the junk email folder. In office XP I had rules that filtered out a lot of
spam and now it all just ends up in the spam folder instead of deleting it so
I end up wasting my time screening spam. If I could run some rules before
the junk filter it would eliminate even more spam. At least give us this
option - or do we have to wait until Office 2010 is released???

disable junk email filtering and let rules handle it - because of how the
junk filtering works on the transport it needs run either run before or
after rules wizard - it can't run in between rules (in part because it
doesn't use the rules wiz mechanism.)

to use rules exclusively, try

Is it possible to control whether the junk email filtering runs before or
after the rules wizard? I want my rules to run first, accepting known
good Email and deleting known trash, before Outlook applies the junk
filters. But the junk filters are getting there first, and I have to run my
rules manually against the junk folder every time I log on and receive
mail.
Thanks.

No you can't. If these messages are coming from the same sender add them to
your Safe Senders list.

I'm having the opposite problem. I have several accounts. I use rules to
move mail from each account to a seperate folder. They never get tested for
junk email.

Any way to resolve this problem?

Did you install Office 2003 Service Pack 2 already? They changed the
behavior so that Junk E-mail filtering goed before executing rules.
