Outlook 2003 Performance

I'm running Outlook 2003 under Windows XP Home Edition. Lately it runs
extremely slow opening, editing and closing any message in an HTML format.
It takes over a minute to open a message and if I do a reply whatever I type
is delayed appearing on the screen. This is only with messages in an HTML
format - plain text messages work just fine. I am also running a Trend
Micro-PC-Cillin as my anti-virus software. Any suggestions?

I have been having the same problem and it started approx. 2 weeks ago. I
have spent 4 hours troubleshooting, found that it is not workstation specific
and not related to my .pst file.

After eliminating many possibilities, it seems like it just started since
the May 9th updates. I'm thinking of rolling back with system restore prior
to the May 9th updates and see what happens.

My issue started about the same time - 2 weeks ago. I will check what system
upgrades were applied around that time and give the system restore a try.
