When outlook goes thru it's normal Send/Receive cycle I get a message saying
it's sending emails and fails with an error message

"Task 'pop3.csi.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC78) : 'Unable to send
the message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account properties.
The server responded: '"

But there is no emails in my outbox and I don't send emails using this
account.

Any help would be great....

Thank you Brian. It was a read recipt, and out suggestion worked for me.

This seems to be a very common problem. Can anyone explain why Outlook 2003
hangs on sending read receipts?? Is there a solution to permanently fix the
problem?

Normally it doesn't. A common cause is a read receipt trying to be sent on
an account that you've removed (not to imply that this is the cause here).
