Outlook 2003 - How can I send me-mails and keep the original forma

I recently installed Outlook 2003 and I'm having trouble maintaining the
original format when I create a new e-mail, forward an e-mail, or add an
additional person to a reply.

When I either CREATE or FORWARD an HTML e-mail, the pictures that were
originally in the message body are received as attachments and any non plain
text become plain. This happens when the e-mail is received in both Outlook
and Outlook Express. When I look in the reading pane of the sent folder, the
e-mail appears as it should, with the pictures intact in the message body and
the font in HTML.

When I REPLY to an HTML e-mail, the content remains intact. The pictures do
not become attachments and the font does not become plain. However, if I ADD
someone new to the reply, then the above scenario comes into play for the
additional person only. I am able to modify the existing e-mail, adding
additional pictures and changing the text completely. However, I can only do
this when I REPLY and the changes can only be seen by the original sender of
the e-mail.

Does anyone know how I can change my settings to make it possible to CREATE,
FORWARD and REPLY to additional people and still maintain the integrity of
the e-mail format? I did not experience this problem with the old version of
Outlook. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated as Microsoft
tutorials have not been helpful at all.

Check the sending format specified for the contact you add by
double-clicking on the email address of that contact in your Contacts
folder. Ideally, it should be "let Outlook decide the best format".
If Outlook is deciding the wrong format then post back.

I can not locate the sending format for any of my contacts. I am able to
open the properties window for a contact; however, the choice that you
indicate is nowhere to be found. I have checked each tab to no avail. Where
would I find this information?

select a contact in your contacts folder (not your address book), double
click to open it. Double click on the email address in the email field.

WOW!!! I had this problem also--all of a sudden this just started happening
and i couldn't figure out why or how to fix it! Thank you so much for this
information! What causes this to happen and do i have to change each
individual email address or is there a blanket way to fix this?

Importing contacts can cause it.
