Have a user who told me he has not received any new emails in the last two
weeks.

I go to his desk and cannot find anything wrong with outlook , login to OWA
on his PC and there are all his new emails.

I tried setting up his emailbox so it could be opened on my PC, gave myself
rights to his mailbox and configured it as an additional mailbox to be
opened on my outlook, but it did not work, says "unable to display folder".

If he was storing the emails in an ost or pst file, any missing emails would
not be available in OWA would they?

I even tried deleting his profile and setting it up again but to no avail.

Have you resetted the view already? It might be set to only display read
e-mails. To reset the view go to View-> Arrange By...-> Custom-> Reset
Current View

Than it's still in its default view and there is nothing to reset.

When you rightclick the folder and choose properties and view the foldersize
does it indicate that there should be something there?
