Outlook 2003 hangs when trying to attach a file

This problem started a few days ago. In Outlook 2003 when I hit the new
button or reply button and hit the paper clip to browse for a file, the
composing window hangs until I go to the task manager. It says the task
is not responding. I have to click 'end now' several times. I can still
use Outlook. If I exit outlook I cannot get back into it until I reboot.

I noticed that Word 2003 will also hang when I try to insert a file.
When I exit Word I can get back to it.

I have a Sony VAIO computer with Windows XP Media Center Edition with SP2.

In this group I saw that problem could be related to security update
MS06-015 and MS04-016. Yes/NO?
