Outlook 2003 does not recognize my profile

I have correctly created my email account settings in Outlook and have
verified that they are correct with my ISP. (I am using dial-up still, and
those setting appear to be correct as well.) Here is what happens: When I
send a test email, Outlooks says everything is successful; in fact, I can
find the test email on my alternate mail program that was provide by my ISP.
Yet, each time I click on the send/receive button in Outlook, I keep getting
the following message: "Operation failed. An object could not be found." In
addition, when I create a new email and click send, the email just sits in
my outbox. As a result, I can neither send nor receive emails. (I only have
one profile for my mail program and have deleted the it and recreated it
several times.) What should I do to fix resolve this?

What happens when you click the To button to address email?

Rather than delete the profile and recreate it, make a new one with a new
name. See if you get the same error.

When I click the TO button, I get an error message that says, "The address
list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this
address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you
do not have permissions...." So I added an email address to my "Contacts" in
the Address book and attempted to send an email, but it stays in my Outbox.
When I clicked on the Send/Receive button, the pop-up window appeared saying,
"The operation failed...."

I do not get the above error if I manually enter the email address. Rather,
the email simply sits in the Outbox and goes nowhere.

Regarding your suggestion about creating an additional profile with a new
name, I had done this, and again the email sat in the Outbox.
