Outlook 2003 does not allow attachments to my e-mails

We are using XP professional along with Outlook 2003 as our e-mail provider.
Our account seems to be set up, we can recieve and send e-mails. But, we can
not insert an attachment or open e-mail attachments. I ran the test, under
Tools/ e-mail accounts, but no errors came up. The error message we recieve
is the following:
'Right click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click
properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions on the folder.'

i.e. - I want to attach an MS Word document, I right click the Word Shortcut
menu and their is no prompt/section on 'permissions'

Any assistance would be great since our PC provider has not helped us

Outlook is not an email provider. It is a email program. You email provider
is your Internet Service Provider--like Earthlink, AOL, Comcast, Road Runner
etc. Ask your ISP for the correct POP server settings. If you are using a
free web email account like Hotmail, you won't be able to use Outlook.

How does this have anything to do with the original question?

What do you see when you click Insert?

Do you get this both when you try to insert when composing a message and
when reading a message and you try to open the attachment? If not, when
does it occur? Can you save the attachment to a folder in Windows?

Hi

we had this problem too there is a solution

open regedit

find the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\11.0\OUTLOOK\SECURITY

add the following string value

Level1Remove .exe;.url

reboot

this shoudl allow you to open attachments under outlook 2003

Paul,
Thank you for the suggestion. We are not programers, but I think we added
it correctly under Registry Editor. Under 'name' I put the Level1Remove and
under the 'data' part I put the .exe;.url Unfortunatley it was not
successful.
We are now getting an error message when we click on the attachement of
"CiceroUIwndframe.exe-corrupt file. The file or directory C: is corrupt and
unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility"
When we restart the machine, the chkdsk checks the drive, but no error
messages are presented to us. I am not sure if this corrupt file is now
hindering our attachment problem.

Thank you again
Scott and Susan
