Outlook 2003 Delete Rule

Eric

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to setup a rule that deletes
messages in a folder after they become so old? I currently have a rule setup
that moves a number of confirmations that I receive daily to a sub-directory
under my inbox and marks them as read. I was wondering if there was a way to
setup a rule that automatically deletes these messages once they become a day
or a week old?

Thanks

Eric

No, rules are not designed for that. AutoArchive is designed for just that
though.

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity... is it common for companies to use
auto archive though?

In a corporate environment I wouldn't use it as it creates local pst-files.
I always recommend to disable the use of pst-files in a corporate
environment as much as possible. To keep administration centralized you
(assuming you're the mail admin) can introduce an archiving system that
integrates with Exchange. This way mail doesn't get scattered around making
it impossible to properly manage and back up resulting in it eventually
getting lost.

In most cases, the costs of introducing a central archiving system are
negligible when compared to the support costs of pst-file use in a corporate
environment. Let alone the costs of losing relevant company information.
