outlook 2003 can't reply to email or create new message

any time I try to reply to a message or to create a new message I get the
hour glass that just sits there until I control-alt-delete to close the
entire program. If I restart the computer I can send ONE message. Every
time I want to send a message I must restart the whole computer, not just the
Outlook program. I emptied out my Inbox, which has solved the problem in the
past, but not this time. Thanks for any help!

Are you using Word or Outlook as the e-mail editor?
Does changing it make a difference?
Does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

I am using Word. I haven't been able to use my computer for a few days, so
it was turned off. Now that it is back on again, everything is working fine.
I have copied your instructions to try next time. Thanks!
