Outlook 2003 Cannot move messages out of "Deleted Items"

I have a problem which developed a coupld of weeks ago, where I can no
longer recover deleted messages from Outlook. If I accidentally delete an
item then it seems to get "stuck" in the "Deleted Items" folder. I have
tried the following, without success:

a) Ctl-Z, immediately after deleting from Inbox

b) Drag & Drop from Deleted Items to Inbox (item doesn't move)

c) Right-drag to any folder in navigation pane, and choose Copy

d) Right-clidk or Open and choose "Move to Folder".

I have also emptied the Deleted Items folder, hoping to re-initialze it and
clear any corruption.
