Outlook 2003 automatically starts deleting multiple messages

When I delete a single message from my Inbox, Outlook automatically starts
deleting the messages that follow it in the list. I can find messages I
intended to delete in my Deleted folder, but those that Outlook automatically
deletes seem to have disappered. How can I prevent this and how can I recover
the unintentionally deleted messages?

Can't say I've ever heard of this one but do the deleted messages have
anything in common? Do they end up, possibly, in the Junk e-mail folder?
