Outlook 2003 - Automatic Capitalization issues

I have my Outlook configured to Autocorrect first letter
of new line to capitalize word automatically.

When I create "New" mail - it will not capitalize the
first word of the sentence.

However, if I am "replying" to a received message - then
the capitaliziation corrects automatically.

Why?
