Outlook 2003 Attachments Problem

When I attach docs to an email, sometimes they show up as text in the body of
the email. This doesn't happen all the time. Any ideas why this is happening
or how to correct it?

How are you attaching these documents? What steps are you taking?

I use the insert file button on my toolbar. My issue doesn't happen all the
time. When it does, the text of the attachment is in the body of the email.
Also, there are occasions when I have sent an email without an attachment but
when opened by the recipient, it shows as having an attachment and the text
of the email is garbled.

Are these always new emails or are some of them replies? If they're replies
and the attachment appears in the body, is the format of the email Rich Text?

They are new emails.

Is your Outlook default format Rich Text? That would explain the garbled
emails your recipients receive. Rich Text is specific to Outlook. Other email
clients can't really read it. I would recommend using plain text or HTML
instead.

If you're using stationery, remove it. That might explain attachments
received by your recipients when you haven't sent any.

Also, check your contacts list. You may have set some contacts to receive
emails in a specific format which would override your default format.

If you have any questions or need clarification about the above, please let
me know.
