outlook 2002 sending e-mail very slowly

Hi,
I am running Outlook 2002 on a home computer using Windows XP Home and
Norton Antivirus. Everything was working fine until I recently set up an
additional e-mail account which is valid, however, now all sending of e-mail
from Outlook takes forever, and the Norton scan takes even longer.

Any ideas? Thanks

It's completely useless to scan outgoing messages.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, however, whether it is useless or not
is not the issue. I've used this system for several years with no problems,
and now, whether I have NAV scan the outgoing or not, it takes a long time
for Outlook to send mail.

I've done Detect and Repair on Outlook, and uninstalled, then reinstalled
Norton, however, it makes no difference. Unless someone has a better
suggestion, I guess I'll have to uninstall Office, and then reinstall to see
if that solves the problem.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Amazing!!

I was pretty frustrated, so I downloaded & installed Mozilla Thunderbird.
After setting it up and successfully sending e-mail and NAV scanning from
both account with Thunderbird, Just for the heck of it, I tried Outlook
again. Its now working perfectly. I don't know why, but it is.
