Outlook 2002 is not prompting for a profile

Hi:
I've opened Outlook 2002 XP, and selected a profile to use. Then I close
Outlook. When I re-start Outlook, it does not prompt me for a profile, and
returns me instead to the first profile I was using.

I have set the mail tab properties (several times) of Outlook to always
prompt for a profile.

How do I fix this so that Outlook will always prompt me?

TIA,
Dan

Sounds to me that when you close Outlook that it isn't properly closing, you
could try not restarting Outlook immediately also check to see if
Outlook.exe is still running in Task Manager!

While the Outlook application WAS properly closed, there was still an active
Outlook object running - ActiveSync was holding the default profile open on
the computer. I disconnected my PDA, and when I restart the Outlook
application, I get prompted for a profile to use.

If ActiveSync was running, then Outlook was not properly closed. As you will
see posted here countless times Outlook cannot exit when ActiveSync is
running.
What is your current question?

Russ:

IMHO, from the user's point of view, Outlook WAS closed - clicked on
File>Exit and the program closed.

It would be helpful to have an entry in the Outlook help, under the topic of
"Profiles" that Outlook is not actually closed when ActiveSync is running,
that ActiveSync has the profile opened.

Since I have answered my initial question myself, I do not have a current
question.

I quite agree. Unfortunately, there are a number of applications that keep
Outlook from exiting completely, and the user is never warned of that fact.
