outlook 2002 hangs at startup

Hi,
Could you help me pls. with issue?
A user of my company cannot open outlook 2002 (o.s. windows 2000), it hangs
at startup. I tried the detect and repair utility but when browsing to the
installation location on the server and pointing to pro.msi file, a error
appears saying that the package pro.msi is not a valid one.

I tried to uninstall outlook by using the add/remove programs but it failed
and the program was still there.

I unistalled the entire office xp, all the components (Word, Excel) were
correctly uninstalled except for outlook

This user has told me that months ago he installed an add-in palm program in
order to syncronize his mailbox with the palm but he has not had problems so
far.

Is it possible to:

Check and if necessary delete the references to the add-in programs in the
registry

Manually unistall outlook by removing the registry entries

Your help is highly appreciated.

What makes you think that? Note that an uninstall doesn't remove any user
settings.

Start Outlook in safe mode and remove the add-in reference in Tools->
Options-> tab Other-> button Advanced Options-> button COM Add-Ins/Add-In
Manager
