Outlook 2002 Error Message

Don

I recently set up my Outlook 2002 to work with a POP3 email account (yahoo).
Every time I open Outlook or try to edit a contact, I get an error message
for each of my contacts (over 1000 contacts) that says "A program is trying
to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow
this?" The only way to continue is to hold down the "No" button. I do not
know what program is trying to access Outlook.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

There should be a place in Outlook where you can see all of the
installed add-ins. Unfortunately, I don't have that version of
Outlook, so I can't direct you (it is in the "Trust Center" in
OL2007). Just keep drilling down through options, and look for
"Advanced Features," "More Options" and the like. As I recall, the
button that actually shows you the add-ins says something like "COM
Add-Ins."

The program attempting to access your Outlook contacts could be some
sort of synchronizer, like for a PDA device. If you have iTunes
installed on your computer, it automatically adds it's add-in to
Outlook so that it can sync your contacts on an iPod.

Of course, it is also possible that it is something malicious -- a
thorough virus scan with an up-to-date scanner would be in order.

You might also try using Task Manager to get a clue as to what
processes are at work when this is happening.
