Outlook 2000 won't start

All of a sudden my Outlook will not start up. The main window appears and
then disappears after about 30 seconds with no error message. Scanpst found
no problems. Virus protection is on (or it should have been) if my 4-year
old didn't turn it off somehow. I tried re-installing Outlook but it didn't
help.

Funny thing I found was that my outlook.pst file is now in blue text rather
than black. There's also a file called extend in the same folder in blue
text as well. Also, the Outllook folder which houses the outlookpst file is
in blue text and all the other folders are black text. Any idea what the
blue text means?

thanks,

Richard

Blue text means the folder and it's contents have been "compressed to save
disk space". Try selecting the folder, right click, select 'Properties',
click the "Advanced" button in "Attributes", UNcheck the "Compress contents
to save disk space" checkbox, click OK, click "Apply", and allow the changes
to subfolders and files. Once finished, see if Outlook behaves again.

Thanks, I figured that out last night but it didn't help. I've uninstalled
Outlook and reinstalled it but still it won't open. Microsoft says I need
to upgrade to 2003 but thats probably their generic answer to any 2000
problem.
