Outlook 2000 uses 100% resources when composing emails

Outlook 2000 takes minutes to show characters when typing emails.
Windows XP HomeTask manages shows Outlook using 100% of system
resources. This usage drops to normal (2% or so) when not creating a
new email. Operating system and Office 2000 Professional Suite are
fully updated.

Is there a known problem (or fix) here?

Thank you,
