Outlook 2000, inbox folder impossible to access after changing par

I customized the view of the Inbox folder, but after doing so I cannot access
it anymore, and I have no possibility to go back to the View/Cuztomize tool
as the Inbox folder is not opening.
I get the message "unable to display the folder, could not complete the
operation, one or more parameter values are not valid"
All subfolders in the Inbox are working properly.
I cannot see emails arriving in the Inbox, I need to run a rule to move them
from the Inbox to a special subfolder that I created.
I have unistalled and reinstalled outlook : but this did not change the
problem.

run the inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) against your *.pst file(s).
