Outlook 2000 Holiday downloads for 2008 Calendar

Outlook 2000 originally came with holidays through 2002. Then there was a
download for 2003 through 2007. Is there a download for holidays for 2008!

found http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/missinghol.htm:
For Outlook 2000/98/97 versions, use this file to add 2006-2012 holidays.
Place in the proper folder (use search to find the original outlook.txt file,
usually found at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033), then use
Outlook's Tools, Options, Calendar Options menu to install them. This is the
same file as the one for Outlook 2002/2003 but is saved as ANSI format text
and renamed to Outlook.txt.

tried to add Jewish Religious Holidays and it did not take. In looking at
the txt files I found the problem: The new updated calendar for Jewish
Holidays provides for example "Erev Passover,5763/8/14,8" when the format
should be converted to the CE Calendar like "Passover, 2003/04/17".

Does anyone have a solution to convert the Jewish dates?

What version of Outlook do you have?

Does the Jewish holiday list that you are trying to add to outlook go up to
5773, as in Passover,5773/8/14,8. If not, you are trying to import the wrong
file.

Outlook doesn't care about the date format - it understands different
calendars and converts them to properly display.

Hi,
I've seen your previous posts about importing a new outlook.txt file for the holidays from 2008 through 2012 - but they stop at the same problem!
The dates are in the Jewish calendar format (ie year is 5769, months do not correspond to Gregorian months etc). They are therefore not being imported.
Is there a list of the Jewish holidays in regular calendar dates, or a way to convert these ?
I noticed that this is the same issue with other holidays (ie, that they may not necessarily use the standard 2008,2009 calendar).

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Eli

I have not found a solution. Still looking, if you or anyone in the big
world can help, we would sure appreciate it.

BTW A great thank you to Diane Poremsky for trying to help.

The format does not matter - outlook knows how to convert the dates to the
Gregorian calendar. If you switch to a Hebrew calendar (or use Hebrew as an
alternate calendar) and you'll see outlook can handle both dates.

Because I have nothing better to do with my time-NOT!-I recently put together
the following text to update my Outlook 2000 Jewish Religious Holidays for
years 2008 and 2009. I replaced the former list of Jewish Holidays with my
list, and everything seems to be working fine. I never did this before, so I
was nervous and therefore included the old holidays from 2003-2007 to
doublecheck my work, and it turned out just the way I'd hoped, so you can
delete those old ones if you want-or use them to check my work too. I also
did some research (& learned a lot). I ended up making some corrections to
the old dates that needed to be made-also added the Hebrew calendar years
with each holiday-and tried to differentiate between the previous night of a
holiday and the day of a holiday (if you know what I mean) since that has
always been confusing to me. If you don't use it I won't be offended, but I
do think it's all right-certainly better than nothing, which is what I had
before....

Should anyone use the text I created to add Jewish Religious Holidays for
"Gregorian Calendar" years 2008-2010 - included in my reply above - I'd
welcome receiving any questions (but only if I can answer them (!) since I am
definitely a novice with all of this still), comments, and/or corrections. I
would be pleased to use your input and also to keep working to provide
additional updates for more years. By the way, I also put together a similar
updated United States Holiday list and would be more than happy to share that
as well if anyone is interested.

A pst with the 2008 - 2012 holidays is at
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2008/20080109.htm

an updated holiday file is also available but the Jewish holidays contained
in it did not import for some people so I made the pst.

Because I have nothing better to do with my time-NOT!-I recently put
together
the following text to update my Outlook 2000 Jewish Religious Holidays for
years 2008 and 2009. I replaced the former list of Jewish Holidays with my
list, and everything seems to be working fine. I never did this before, so
I
was nervous and therefore included the old holidays from 2003-2007 to
doublecheck my work, and it turned out just the way I'd hoped, so you can
delete those old ones if you want-or use them to check my work too. I also
did some research (& learned a lot). I ended up making some corrections to
the old dates that needed to be made-also added the Hebrew calendar years
with each holiday-and tried to differentiate between the previous night of
a
holiday and the day of a holiday (if you know what I mean) since that has
always been confusing to me. If you don't use it I won't be offended, but
I
do think it's all right-certainly better than nothing, which is what I had
before....

I tried this but the file wouldn't open properly. In fact gibberish was in
the file text box.

How are you opening/saving it? it's an Outlook pst in a zip file (windows
compressed folder) - so you need to unzip it and the open it using file,
open or import it.

i have saved the file as you describe, but, outlook 2000 says the file is bad

The jewish calendar in Outlook 2007 is only applicable in Israel. Jewish
holdays outside of Israel have extra days, e.g., the first & last days of
Passover & Sukkot are observed for 1 day in Israel and 2 days outside of
Israel. Shavuot is 1 days in Israel and 2 days outside of Israel.

For example, in Outlook 2007 (SP1), Shavuot for this year is shown on June
9, but in the U.S., the holiday is observed on June 9 and 10. Sukkot shows
one day of observance (Oct 14) at the beginnning and 1 day (Oct 21) at the
end. in fact, outside of Israel, Oct 14 and 15 should be listed the same and
Oct 21 should be shown as Sh'mini Atzeret and Oct 22 as Simchat Torah.
