Outlook 2000 blank email received

Guest

Greetings, lately I have been receiving totally blank emails. Nothing in the
To, Subject, or Body. I cannot even reply. I tried to block these with the
Organize, but it requires at least one word in the body or subject area. Any
suggestions? I use Comcast Cable, XP and Outlook 2000.

Thanks

Is anyone else beginning to suspect that the recent rash of "I'm getting
blank emails" postings are some sort of insidious spam/trolling <g> ?

Someone is sending you ill-formed SPAM. To block a message with a blank
subject, create a rule that deletes ALL messages (by not selecting a
condition on the first Rules Wizard dialogue page) and include the "except
with specific words in the subject". Make those specific words "a", "b",
"c", ..., "z", "0", "1", ..., "9". then any message whose subject is all
blank or consists only of punctuation will be disposed according to whatever
action you chose for the rule.

It's not insidious, probably just the result of a spammer with his head
where the sun don't shine, not even smart enough to write a decent SPAM
program.

Thanks, I tried that and it worked. Of course, I found out if you type all
the letters at once, everything gets deleted! So, I typed one letter at a
time and hit OK. Works great.

While I didn't explicitly say to do that, I should have.

You should be able to simplify the rule by including only vowels. This will
allow most mail though, rejecting those that contain subjects whose contents
contain no vowels. A message with only the word "rhythm" or "myrrh" or only
digits in the subject would be rejected, but how many of those do you
receive that are legitimate?
