Outlook '02 Microsoft Exchange Server

I have a microsoft exchange server account set up in my
outlook mail. The exchange server name & user name is
correct.

When I hit send and receive mail I receive the following
error. The server is not available. Contact your
administrator if the problem persists.

I can ping the server with no problem. I also modified
the host file to the correct ip address. ( I am running
Windows XP) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you check your file menu, does it have "Work Offline" checked?
