Outllok 2002 Keeps trying to install a component??

Hello,

I do not seem to be able to find a similar question in here. So, here goes.

I recently aquired an iPAQ. With it I also have Outlook 2002. I do not use
the email options in 2002. I have stayed with Outlook Express for that.

Whenever I run Outlook 2002 I get an EULA popup asking me to accept. When
clicking on Accept I am then prompted to install the CD so that a component
can be installed. I know a reasonable amount about computers and have twice
now removed 2002 and re-installed. All works perfectly well except for this
one irritating problem.

having done a few tests.....if the machine is turned off prior tousing 2002
I get the EULA and request for CD. If I have already used 2002, closed it
then reopen it, I get the EULA popup but no request for the CD....very
irritating

My system is an AMD64FX with hardware SATA RAID, 1.5GB 400MHz DDRAM and XP
Pro. There is a very large amount of free disk space. In all other respects
the system works very well indeed.

HELP !!!!!!!

If you're not logged onto your PC as an administrator, try doing so and then
accepting the EULA there. It should not pop up again.

Hello,

Thanks for that. I am the only person registered on the machine and
thats as the administrator. There are no other accounts. I can understand
your thoughts but would that extend to the insistence that 2002 must
re-install a "component" on first use of the program each day?

I think its because of a bad install and thats why I have removed it a
couple of times and started over.

I am happy with my editing skills within regedit but only when I know
exactly what to delete/edit etc. In this case I don't know for certain and
have used Ashampoo to removed redundent entries. As most of us know, its not
a complete solution as it does not always find everything that should/can be
deleted. So I guess another question would be, Do you/anyone else know the
exact entries that I can delete so as to get a truly new install?

This may or may not help - With Microsoft Office usually the cause for EULA
pop-up and CD request after an in stall is a "request" to use an
applications function which originally was an optional installed item and
not originally installed (kind of wordy here!), For example if you do not
install Publisher to "run all" from the HD - if you attempt to use graphics
you get the same message.

I am not familiar with the install options for Outlook - but it may be that
your default installation does not provide for "run all" from the HD.
Suggest you use "Custom" installation option rather then "Express" or
"Normal".

Hello there,

Many thanks for that. I will be unable to look at it for a couple of
days but will do so. It has a certain feel to it...just maybe...

Kind Regards.....Justin
