Outline View Formatting - Help

Guest

I am reformatting a mess of a document someone else made. Cut and Pasted
unformatted text and am in Outline View changing levels. I have already
assigned what I want to each of the 4 levels I am using. Wherever there is a
large PLUS sign next to a heading Word put in a bullet and I cannot remove
them. This is my first real attempt at this in WORD. Will appreciate any
help. Thank You.

Is it a square bullet? Could it be the nonprinting character that denotes
this text is set with "keep with next" or similar formatting?

Nonprinting characters can be turned off and on by clicking ¶ in the
Standard toolbar. If that doesn't work, check the View settings in the
Tools | Options menu. See here for more info, and an explanation of how
nonprinting characters can be extremely useful:

If that isn't it, which version of Word? Promote and delete in Outline View
uses the built-in Heading styles, so check the style definitions for those
to see if they include bullleting.

Also, since you say this is your first real attempt that something like this
in Word, you may be interested in:
