Having used my present system on Windows Mail for a year it has suddenly
decided not to send emails. I have looked at previous posts and tried
everything - the message error I'm getting now is 0x800CCC7D. It's happening
with all posts even one which is just a receipt message from an incoming
post. I have AVG virus cover and Super Antispyware but have tried to find
out if these are relevant the problem and had no joy. Has enyone any ideas.
Frustration abounds!!!

Did you use the standard install for AVG? If so, it sometimes helps to
uninstall
it, then do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part which
scans
email.

If this doesn't help click on the Outbox, and move any messages you find
there
to the Drafts folder or delete them. If any refuse to do either, download
and
install this hotfix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If that doesn't help either, we're likely to need the entire error message,
not
just the error number, to offer much more help. Right click on it and copy
all of it to your next message.

hiya - I've tried all those things already and unfortunately no joy. the full error message is

Subject 'Read: Visit', Account: 'pop3.uwclub.net', Server:
'smtp.uwclub.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 HELP', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

But I was getting a different one originally which I'm afraid I can't
remember.

Thanks so much to both of you fo your help

The following from the Microsoft site:
SYMPTOMS
When you have an Outlook account that is set up to use Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) and you try to send an SMTP e-mail message, you may receive
the following error message:
Unknown Error: 0x800CCC7D
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the outgoing SMTP server does not
support secure connections.
MORE INFORMATION
If secure connections have worked in the past, it is important that you
contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
There could be a security issue in which someone has redirected your
SMTP connection to another server with the intention of gathering
cleartext username and password information.

Another possibility is that it may be your antivirus. As a test,
temporarily disable your antivirus and try to send/receive mail. If
that works, you may have to change settings in your antivirus program,
or delete/reinstall it, or delete it and try a different one.

Thanks Adam I will contact my ISP - damn the expense!!!!

Since this is the first time you included the complete error message
(which is always very helpful), I don't know if you have been using the
SSL option all along. The SSL option is seldom used with port 25,
so unless your provider told you to use it, I would try it without SSL.

Thanks Gary - that's done the trick - although I never changed the setting -
spose that could have been something that's downloaded - most peculiar!!
Thanks - ever so grateful x
