Outgoing email messages that are too large of files

I am trying to send out an email message but the file size is larger than my
allowable amount. It is stuck in the sending mode and won't allow me to
cancel the send or delete it? What else can I do? It is slowing my program
down.

File - Work offline
Wait 5 minutes.
Attempt to delete message.
If it fails, File - Exit.
Restart Outlook, stay offline when it asks.
Try to delete message.
