Out with Pro and back to Home

Hi

I have just built a new pc and installed XP Pro (never used it before). I
connected it to my network where all the other pc's are running XP Home. It's
been nothing but agro....I want to go back HOME!!! Should I format the hard
drive (nothing to back up yet) and do a clean install of XP Home or can I
just install over the top of XP Pro?

PS: I should mention at this point that there are no partitions on the hard
drive and I'm wondering if now would be a good time to create a partition for
the OS....how big should the partion be do you think?

Hi Prof should work no different to home, or cause any other issues, there
must be some other reason for the, unstated, problem....

Unfortunately, the only way to install XP Home if you already have XP Pro is
with a clean install.

On the WinXP computers, create local user account(s), with non-blank
password(s), that have the desired access privileges to the desired
shares. Log on to the other PCs using those account(s), and you will be
able to access the designated shares, provided your network is
configured properly. Also, if running WinXP SP1 or later, make sure
that WinXP's built-in firewall is disabled on the internal LAN
connection. If using WinXP SP2, make sure that you've either disabled
the built-in firewall, or set the firewall to allow file and print sharing.

Usually, WinXP's Networking Wizard makes it simple and painless --
almost entirely automatic, in fact. There's a lot of useful,
easy-to-follow information in WinXP's Help & Support files, and here:

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to
format the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path
or technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
