Out of office appointment shows in free busy view but not in calen

I have a user with the following problem - when someone tries to book an
appointment with them it appears in the free busy schedule that they are out
of the office (appt from 28/7/05 to 19/2/06). The user's calendar does not
show any appointment re the above dates - BUT when you open a new appointment
on their calendar the scheduling tab shows they are "out of the office", but
this particular appointment will not display any information/detail about the
appointment?

Perhaps they have the show calendar details in calendar grid turned off?

Thanks Milly - we are running Outlook 2002 and Exchange Server 2003 (I failed
to include this info previously) if that helps? Don't think your suggestion
below helps as all other appointments in the calendar show fine. It's only
the free/busy area in the scheduling tab of new appt/meeting requests, or
where other users try to book out this users time where it shows they are out
of the office??
