Out of memory.

I am trying to edit a macro and I get an out of memory
error and am unable to open Visual basic when it happens.

I have restarted my compter and shut off everything I can,
but the error comes up anyway.

Macros run properly.

My personal.xls file is 505 Kb.

Any thoughts?

What version Excel - 97 or 2000 possibly??? One possible common cause of
numerous Out of memory errors is a corrupted Toolbar file. Try closing Excel
and searching for *.xlb and renaming it to *.old (Excel will just create
another) - NOTE:- This is the toolbar customisation file and you will lose any
customisations as a result.

If this does fix it, then forget that file, but if it does not and you want it
back, just search again for the new *.xlb and delete it and then rename your
*.old back to *.xlb.

I use 2000. I did what you said, but it still occurs.

I have created a new spreadsheet called macros that I have
to open before I can run them. Is there any way to get
into the VB and get the macros out. Some I use every day,
others monthly and others periodically.

Using ALT+F11 and then edit the file to your hearts content - but make a backup
first so you don't lose anything. I tend to keep most of my routines in my
personal.xls, so they are always generally available.
