Out of Memory Error Message During a File Copy Operation

I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit. I partitioned the hard
drive into three partitions and reinstalled the drivers. Everything is
working fine, except when I try to copy some files from a USB portable hard
drive to one of the partitions. The error message "Out of Memory" comes up
after a while. Of a 1.1gb folder, only about 750mb got copied before getting
the error message.

What do I do?

Are you running Kaspersky Antivirus? Did you try to copy more than
16,384 files? There is a known Kaspersky bug affecting Windows Vista
users. If you try to copy more than 16,384 files during the same user
session (either all at once or during several smaller operations), you
will receive an "out of memory" message, at which point you will have
to reboot.

If you uninstall Kaspersky the problem goes away.

I am having the same issue, I am trying to copy 40,000 files from an xp
pc to a vista ultimate pc through gigabit network. I get stopped
around 16,000 files, and i don't have Kaspersky. I did have Zone
alarm, but I uninstalled it. I'm pretty sure Zone Alarm uses Kaspersky
engine. I did uninstall it though, could there be something left
behind?

Is there another solve for this problem?

Older versions of Zone Alarm could not be just "Uninstalled". You first
had to select the option do not run at startup and then reboot before
uninstalling. If you did not do this you would have the firewall engine
left running but no way to control it.

If you uninstalled before making the setting change and then rebooting
the procedure was to reinstall and the start over but this time turn off
the run at startup option then reboot first.

I don't know if this has changed any since because I no longer use ZA
but if you are having problems I suggest you visit their website and see
if there are still special instructions.
