Hello,

I think i am done and ready with my first database for our office. I
have it in the network folder for it to be shared by 4 people or maybe
less. Now 2 pc can access the Delivery Note.mde but 2 other pc cannot
access the file when they double click it nothing's happening but when
i close the database in the 2 working pc they can open the file. I
really don't know why?

What i have done so far.

I have the original back up for safety purposes. Convert the Delivery
Note.mdb to Access 2002 - 2003 format. Convert the file to .mde
because if it is on Access 2000 it will not be converted to .mde file.
Share the file still not working.

I also tried...

I have the original back up for safety purposes. Convert the Delivery
Note.mdb to Access 2002 - 2003 format. Perform a Database Splitter
(Delivery Note_be.mdb) then Convert the original file (not the file to
Delivery Note_be.mdb) to .mde. Share the file still not working.

Still the 2 pc can access the file and do some encoding, changes and
works perfectly but the other 2 pc cannot access the file until i
close my pc.

Can you help me please....What am i doing incorrectly?

We have similar symptoms at our office. In our case, this is due to
some combination of attempting to open the file in exclusive mode and
windows security settings.

The workaround is to open the database via a shortcut that calls
access first, and opens the database via parameter:

Target:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" \\fileserver
\mydatabase.mde

Start In:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office"

I hope this works for you,

-Kris
