Other Browsers

Why is it that I am unable to access certain facilities from Microsoft
through other browsers like Opera/Firefox? For example, I can not use windows
update or for that matter clean up service from Live one Care. However these
services are available if I access them from IE. Any idea?
Also can some body tell me the diffrence between Microsoft update and
Windows update?

Are you being silly?
Assuming you are not,

Windows update reguires IE. That is the way it was designed by MS. I have
heard that you could get a plugin for FF that might work. They have designed
their update services to use the browser that came with your computer. They
have designed it to use that browser. Updates, and I think Live One Care,
use Active X controls which FF does not support. Again, I think you can get
an Active X extention/plugin for FF that might make it work.

Windows Update [WU] provides updates for Windows [2000,ME,2003,XP,VISTA],
Mircosoft Updates [MU] provides updates for Other MS Products in Additon to
Windows, mostly MS Office, and only the more recent ones [not Office 2000 for
example].
