Ilfak's patch is recommended by industry experts ... and (for the
9X/ME case) the NOD32 fix at least is from a expert source. People
should take the growing threat seriously and not rely on antivirus
to save their butts. Personally, I think it's unwise to not use the
fixes until MS releases patches. It's a very unusual situation, and
the old maxim about not using fixes from non-vendor sources simply
doesn't hold water in this case.

As long as it's removable for when the MS patch gets installed. Never
know what kind of conflicts can arise from this kind of thing.

It is removable via Add or Remove Programs. Uninstalling requires a
reboot.

As Art's just posted, patches are now available from Microsoft for some
of its affected operating systems.

You're right. I just ran Windows Update and it seems that MS has
released the patch for XP Home SP2 at least. No need for third party
patches now (I hope.)

Hi John!

Have you watched the affected .wmf files? :)
Funny. I have Office XP 2002 installed with many Cliparts.

Believe it or not, I don't have a single .wmf file on my computer.

You mean: No file with *.wmf extension? There might be *.wmf files in
your browser cache. Most browsers store files without recognizable
extension (and file name) inside the cache.

And there are file formats using *.wmf as internal preview pictures.
A typical example is *.eps (Encapsulated PostScript) which *can*
have such a preview.

come!?
