(OT) Where can I get EMAIL ONLY service

Where can I get EMAIL ONLY service? I'm going to cancel my internet
service when my payment runs out at the end of July. In all honesty,
I can not stand the internet anymore. Or maybe I should say I cant
stand the web. Every damn time I go on the web lately, I need to
install some other software, or my browser is obsolete, or I dont have
the latest something or other, or I need an update, blah blah blah.
**** IT. I hate the ****ing web.

I just tried to find out what was on tv tonite. Google now makes
everyone click twice on every url. Some redirect bullshit. Then I get
some tv listing page that tells me I need newer flash player, and some
other bullshit needs updating, etc. WHY? Whats wrong with just
posting a goddamn text file, with the tv listings. Why do I need all
this shit that does nothing but make it take forever to load a page.
Seems every week this shit gets worse. I'm just plain tired of it. I
recall the old web pages in the early 90's. Just plain html text and
a few photos. They worked well, and if made by someone that knew what
they were doing, they looked attractive. Why is anything more than
that needed to post a simple list of tv programs?

Not only has the web gotten so loaded with advertising, but what's the
point of putting ****ing flash shit on every goddamn site? Having
flash videos on a site like youtube is fine. If I want to watch them,
I will. But why put that crap on every goddamn site. I even
installed a flash blocker, now many sites refuse to load. Going on
the web used to be fun as well as educational. Now it's like going to
war, fighting all the way thru tons of garbage to find one penny's
worth of usefulness. Finding anything these days takes hours and
hours. Hell, I'll buy an encyclopedia set, and be done with it, and
subscribe to tv guide, which in the end will be much cheaper than the
internet and maintaining a computer, and being forced to replace the
damn thing every couple years.

About the only part of the net that's still a little useful are the
newsgroups, but they are quickly dying, and more and more groups are
either empty or spam filled now. I guess we're all supposed to now
join those slower than shit in January, yahoo groups and that sort of
crap, and like almost every other goddamn webpage these days, you have
to sign up, reveal half or more of your identity to use the ****ing
thing. There again, I used to use those yahoo groups and they were
tolerable. Now, they're so filled with all this hi-tech bloated
nonsense that it takes several minutes to load each message. Sorry, I
dont have time for that shit, and much of the time the stuff posted on
them is complete shit or spam.

What's left.... Email, that's about it. Even that's corrupted, but
it's still a little useful to me. I guess I could learn to live with
just a telephone, and send photos to friends via snail mail. Hell, I
did it like this for the first 45 years of my life.

If any of this hi-tech crap really improved anything, I would nto be
complaining. But none of it makes a damn bit of difference. It's
just plain bloat and senseless. I thought that websites were supposed
to be there to contain useful information, or sell something, or
provide educational material. It seems the whole purpose has been
lost in favor of shovelling the most shit onto someone's computer.

I'm finished with the internet. Dont need it, dont want it anymore.

Does anyone know of a service that is ONLY to get Email? If it's
cheap enough, I'll get that. Otherwise, **** the whole interenet.

I use my local FreeNet as a backup system. See if
your city has one. It's a dialup based system, with
one hour sessions. Not every city has one, and
policies aren't uniform between them either. But
it's one way to get dialup if there aren't any
other good options.

Another option, is to book time at your local
library, and use a library computer to reach the
Internet. Time is booked in one hour sessions (or
perhaps an "express" machine offers 15 minute
sessions). If you had a GMail account, and used
the library computer for its browser, you could do
email that way. Not very convenient, but perhaps
a substitute if your town or city doesn't have
a FreeNet. That is also good for someone who
doesn't have a computer. Or doesn't want the
hassle of maintaining a computer in running
condition.
