OT..ish: Installation from hdd

this is kinda OT but isn't it is hardware related though

I am having trouble installing software from CD's, dont ask why i dont know

Anyhow i am now trying to install the software from my hard drive

it works great i enter my serial number and the program starts installing
then it asks me to incert CD2 into the CD-ROM drive

well CD2 is actually a folder on my hard drive

there is no option to select an alternative location/drive just "ok" or
"cancel"

is there some way i can merge the contents of the CD's into one? maybe
transfer files from the "bin" folder on CD2 into the "bin" folder on CD1?

this is all on hard drive though

I just want to get this damn thing working, maybe my pc has a vendetta
against me installing games, i tried BF1942 and got some cab errors, tried
cab repair tool nothing tried hard drive install for that and it worked but
the sound is a bit farked

just want to get this call of duty installed now, all my software is above
board and legal, "it is a copy of original, with original CD key" as all my
games are, i throw away boxes and sharpie serials onto CD-R's copy all games
and then flog the games without the serials, it might be illegal ish but i
do it, anyhow the cd's may be the problem, I put CD2 into the drive as it
requests and press OK, the drive flickers, makes it noises and nothing
happens, it keeps asking for CD2 when its in the drive?

so i figured maybe hdd install, can anyone shed any light on this problem

sorry if this is totally OT but i cant find a group for this problem, its
kinda, hardware and kinda software and kinda just game installation FAQ, but
it isnt covered by any of the FAQs etc.

Anyhow ill stop rabbiting on and hope someone can help me

I will be grateful

I hope someone comes up with a better answer but here goes. I don't
play games much but my children who do sometimes talk about
some games where the disc order is mixed up. If no one has a better
explanation I'll ask them tomorrow - it's 2 am here now and they're
all asleep :)

Uhm... just buy a new CD drive? They're cheap...

The only other way I can think of, and doesn't always work, is to get images
of the CD saved to your HDD and then mount them with a third party utility.
It makes a fake CDRom letter. To switch CD's you just mount a new CD image
file.

Basically you're an idiot. Your software is not legal and if I understand
your problem, you are seeing the effect of copy protection on the discs.
You have to defeat the copy protection when you copy the discs.

No. Install from the original discs.
