Is the new Vista any good att all??
Any improvements from XP??

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.6 (on my Mac) and having no problems att all
My brother runs XP Sp2 (on a PC) and having serious problems with all stuff
in XP

So, for that reason We are about to try Vista on his PC, and in some how I'm
sure
it is all as bad as XP, 2k, NT and so on.....

Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand...

Vista is still in beta testing and still has a considerable amount of bugs.
That is the purpose of this beta test - to put it on a million different PCs
and find the bugs. Do NOT put it on a machine that has data you aren't
willing to lose.

I'm 7 hours into Vista and visually, it's much improved. I've used OSX on a
mac but I don't own one. It's slick and I'm not shy about admitting that I
like it. This version of Windows is graphical as all get out and some of it
reminds you of OSX but that is where the simularity ends.
I would say if your brother is having problems with XP and you want to post
a question like this, state specifically what his problems are then we can
discuss them. My guess is your brother would probably have the same
problems in Vista because we don't yet know what he is having a problem
with. Personally I'm happ for you that you are having NO problems on your
mac. When Apple builds a product that expects to run on more than it's OWN
hardware, then come talk to us. Until then, head to the OSX usergroups.

As far as your brother's technical problems. I doubt a switch to the Vista
Beta 2 is a good idea. `Might be worth a try, but, to be honest, it might be
better to get everything working well with XP first instead.

Figure out what some of the specific problems are, then post for help on
these problems. Also check with any manufacturer's websites for new drivers.
Make sure the computer's components are "seated" well i.e. video card
properly inserted, wires plugged in properly and so on.

'Have a nice day.

Your brother needs to get some help. XP is very stable and works very well.

Yes, XP SP2 is very stable. Even more stable for me is XP Pro x64.

The typical problem for Windows is the huge number of devices from third
party companies. some of the drivers are poorly written and drivers running
in kernel mode can take the system down when they misbehave. At least Apple
has great control over the hardware and can avoid bad drivers. I am glad to
see MS begin to force drivers out of kernel mode and into user mode for
Vista.

I haven't had a crash in years that wasn't caused by poor third party device
driver support.
