Oracle, Access, SQL Server Thinking about taking the dive

Thinking about taking the plunge into oracle. I have been using Windows and
Access since Access Version 2.0

I only have about 4 weeks training on UNIX and SQL 7. However, as an IT
professional alot of DBA's are trying to convince me that I should dive into
Oracle and Red hat. Back in 1999 while attending training on HPUX I wasn't
impressed although I was very fluent in dos commands, etc and could relate
HPUX SAM with Simular DOS commands.

Question: I like the end user interface forms, reports that Access as a
front end offers the end user. Is there a simular interface for Oracle?

Question: I heard that ORACLE has an impresive GUI that is easier to
navagate and understand. Is that true?

Question: can Access be used with ORACLE although two different Operating
systems. Im only assuming a DNS connection of some sort?

I would like to hear some oppinions from others that have took the time to
learn ORACLE and what learning curves were involved.

Thanks, this forum has been quite helpful in the past to me.

I think that you'd be crazy to get into Oracle right now.

Use SQL Server.
you can use Web Services, native to SQL Server to present it in a PHP or
Java envioronment if you must.

I just don't think that highly of the whole Oracle _CRAP_.

They don't get bonus kudos for making a crappy UI.
I don't believe in the efficiency of needing to go to a 3rd party to get
development and admin tools.

SQL Server is a superior platform; on a superior operating system; with
superior Olap, superior ETL and superior manageability.

Anyone that thinks that Access grows into Oracle obviously doesn’t know jack
shit about SQL Server.

Access Data Projects-- from Access to SQL is the best route.

anyone that tries to tell you otherwise is selling you something
