Optimizing virtual memory problem

I followed the suggestions at this link...

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/columns/archive.mspx

.... to optimize the virtual memory on both computers on my home network,
by splitting the pagefile.sys over two physical drives on each pc.

It works fine on the pc with 256Mb ram where I find a pagefile on both
the C: and E: drives, but the pc with 1Gb ram only shows a page file in
the root of drive E:. The customized file size settings still show in
the C: drive configuration dialog, just no pagefile to be seen in the
root.

Any comments please?

Thanks,

A

That quite often happens when the file on the second drive is adequate.
On a 1GB machine the sizes set are probably far bigger than need be, and
you may have only 10 or 20 MB of actual use (the system seems to want
to park a small amount not matter what, by way of precaution), so the
one on C does not need to come into play. I suggest supplementing your
reading with *my* page on it at www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm

Thanks for the reply which helped my understanding. Unfortunately I only
noticed it just after I re-posted.
