Optical drives dissapear after system sleeps

I went to do the registry tweak for the Vista Beta and I did NOT have
that registry entry. I removed the drivers for my 2 drives and
rebooted so my system installed them automatically so I'll have to
wait and see if that did anything.

Eddie,

Yes, it's time to start thinking outside the box, because it's hard to tell
just where the problem is. We are thinking the problem likely is Vista, but
it may not be Vista. There are variables that can influence this situation,
and we should not exclude thinking about anything.

The problems such as you and some others have had are unusual, in that Vista
usually identifies hardware correctly. So, that fact should focus on the
question of why some hardware is not identified correctly. Just trying to
get to the bottom of this. It's not easy.

Wow, I feel stupid. There I am last night re-formatting my computer,
completely re-installing everything, when your comments came to mind. See,
my first computer (laptop) had a CD-ROM that broke, but it was not able to
be removed. So, after hours and hours, I spent less than five minutes
removing and re-seating the CD-Rom.

THANKS!!

Vista found my hardware like I said, but after waking up my system the
drives are not there...

<sigh>
